Using E-Blah user data
« on: August 26, 2005, 11:06:13 »
Just a bit of a problem...  ???

I had a new install of E-Blah Platinum 9 up and running for about a week with no problems found.  I then installed Album.pl and got it running as well.  Still no problems.  Then I set Album.pl to share the E-Blah user info for login.  Suddenly nobody can register as a new user on E-Blah and if you change your password it locks you out completely...even the administrator.   :o  Has anyone else had this problem?  It's starting to look like I'm gonna have to reinstall both packages to get it straightened out.

Hi grampy,

There's no way using eblah integration with album.pl could affect eblah's logins... no changes to the DB or eblah code are ever made. I'm not trying to sound defensive ;) just trying to point you in the right direction. Were any other changes to eblah made? Have you tried a re-install of eblah?

I believe I am having that problem too.  But am still troubleshooting the basics right now, as I am not familiar with the program yet.  My eblah administrator login does not work AND I have changed the password from the one used during album.pl setup.

Did the problem start when you used album.pl? Any details would be helpful, as I'd like to track this down as well.

Album.pl was installed as part of our new website created by a web programmer.  At that time I was able to login, but only with the eblah administrator username and logon.

I did not look at Album.pl again until yesterday.  I could not login with anything I used.  When I read the above message, it clicked that I had changed the administrator password after the web designer signed off.  This may not have anything to do with my problem, it just clicked when I read the message above.  I have not had any experience with Album.pl and have not had time to read your instructions and do any basic troubleshooting on it.

thx

It's just as it sounds, the authentication for user admin failed. Try turning on debugging to see why.

Has anyone figured this one out yet?

I think I'm having issues with eblah, and album.pl installed together.   ???

This is Justin, the writer of E-Blah ...

I'd *guess* your problem is that you've encrypted your members passwords.

Don't encrypt the passwords, and it will probably work.

This is Craig from Blahdocs.com and E-Blah tech support.  I had the same problem, and clearing the cookies and logging back into my forum and the in to Album fixed it.  Of course that was after Martin uploaded his customized Album to my server...so I don't know what fixed it :o.

Well, I'm not sure it's a e-blah issue now... While trying to upload a file (from remote) "I get The page cannot be displayed Cannot find server or DNS Error" I'm running IIS 5.5 switched over from Linux 9, and apache... So I think I must something wrong with a path statement somewhere. If I upload direct from the server, album.pl seems to work fine. (weird)

The address bar is showing this:  http://www.wilkwood.com/cgi-bin/album.pl?function=upload

But after it trys to upload It can't find the page, or DNS error. from above.. I'll get it!!! It's not the program, it's somthing I'm doing wrong.

Grrrrr..

Thanks for the Cookie tip though... That did come in handy!

New here and to E-blah.

Martin uploaded Album.pl on my board for me.  The cookie trick is a must.

If you need another test bed to play with just let me know.  My board isn't "public" yes so it is fairly clean.

And this leads me to the question that originally brought me here...Is there a "back up" for Album?  or is this something I will need to do on my server?

Thanks
Ding

Sorry, no backup option, so that's something you'd need to handle. But I have good news... if you re-download and replace album.pl, it should now be able to read and use eblah cookies for automatic login. Please let me know how it works out!

Cheers
