JHEAD
« on: August 11, 2002, 04:23:45 »
Hi All.
I don't know if my server have installed JHEAD and I don't need to use this feature. Following the instructions I leave the box in blank but when I submit the changes I receive the "Configuration Management  page" once and again with the JHEAD path filled -again-with "/usr/local/bin/jhead".

I have tried to leave the path to JHEAD in blank editing the album.cfg manually, but the error persist.

Could you help me, please?
Thanks in advance.

Hi animaniaco,

You probably don't have jhead installed on your system. Luckily, you can do it yourself, and just point album.pl to it once it's installed... (I.E. it doesn't have to be under the /usr/local/, it can be under your home dir and still work OK...)

Hi Mike. Thanks for your assistance.

Well, I have put JHEAD under the same directory of ALBUM.PL, and I've put the correct path in the "Configuration Management ". It sounds something like "/home/myserver/cgi-bin/album/jhead".

But the error persist:
"WARNING: Jhead was not found at the specified location. You will receive jhead errors until this is fixed. (This error sometimes shows up even when the path to jhead is correct - just confirm it...)"

I don't need to use JHEAD, and I leave this part of the form in blank... (?)
On the other hand, my host tell me that they doesn't support IMAGEMAGICK or JHEAD. Would be this matter the problem?

Finally, could I install IMAGEMAGICK under any directory in my server? (i.e. /home/myserver/imagemagick)

Thanks again.

It's possible that you have the correct path and that album.pl isn't seeing jhead there for some reason. Do you actually get the "jhead" details for your photos?

As for ImageMagick, it can be installed anywhere, but you pretty much need to be root to install it, which is unlikely for a hosted machine... :(

I'm having the same problem. Did you ever figure the problem out? If so, exactly how did you configure paths? ???

Is the problem the warning on the album.pl config screen? If so, you may be able to ignore that. When you hover over a picture, it should either give jhead info or an error, depending on if it's working ok...

But how do I get past the config screen to display the main album.pl generated main page? I have tried everything I can think of, but that's not necessary saying a great deal though. I am not a super whiz at this yet. :-/

If you get sent back to the config screen when you hit submit, just manually edit album.cfg and change "nerconfig=true" to "newconfig=" and that should do it.

I thought I fixed that problem though...

Out of curiousity, which version are you using?
