image resizing with ftp transfer
« on: February 05, 2008, 06:23:20 »
I've got a heap of photos I took with a digital camera. They are about 1MB each. I uploaded them via ftp because there are so many. I want to have the full size photos available in case people want to print them. However I also want to have quarter size photos for general browsing. I would normally do this in MS paint - shrink each photo by 50%. Is there a way to do this as a batch process? Either pre or post upload would be fine.

album.pl's post-upload command only works on intital upload of individual photos. I imagine you could invoke some sort of script that uses Imagemagick to do it.
What I found much simpler is to batch process with Irfanview (free), then ftp the results to the web site.
