Looking for New Hosting Provider
« on: November 13, 2002, 06:12:10 »
My bi-annual renewal for my web site is coming due soon and I'm looking for some recommendations for a host that is *nix based and has ImageMajek already installed. If the site doesn't work with album.pl to create thumbnails, resize and compress oversize photos I don't want it. My current provider has all the goodies but their uptime SUCKS! >:(  Does anyone use "Dialup Host.com" ??

Personally, the site I have that uses album.pl, runs on the web host serve-you.net. Works great, good uptime and terrific support.

They originally did not have ImageMagick installed, but after a quick question from me they installed it in 30 minutes.

The only problem I have found with them is that they are running PHP in safe mode - While not a problem with this script (as it doesn't use PHP), it can be a problem if you're using any PHP scripts...

They seem fast, and I haven't experienced any problems. Their servers are running Red Hat Linux as operating system, with Apache 1.3.27.

I have no idea about prices though, as my web site is sponsored by them...  ::)
