Hi Andrew,

It's not your imagination, the multiple thumbnail thing is a bug in 5.7. Good news is, it's fixed in 6.0. Unfortunately, it's been so long I kinda forget the exact fix. (Was a couple months ago.) And you're right, 6.0 is totally different from 5.7. Templates, style sheet, everything.

I *think* the title problem was also a 5.7 bug that I fixed. I'm not sure how long it's been since you downloaded album.pl, but certain "versions" of 5.7 had more bug fixes than others. I remember a nasty one where photo uploading would bugger the descriptions.txt file, and that sounds like the one you're seeing...

I guess the question to ask is, is it worth upgrading to 6.0? It's quite stable at the moment, and there are no known bugs with it. (A first!) I'm planning on putting out 6.0 final on Sunday, assuming there are no other issues found.

If you decide to stick with 5.7, I can probably track down the bug fixes in the code. Doing a diff won't help though, as there are a ton of changes...

Holey Moley.....that's a new program Mike.     What to do what to do......I gotta think here.  Can't shut the album down on my board right now so I have to try and get this set up, working and looking right on another server.
I don't want to deviat at all really from my current format...with the exception maybe of adding the slide show deal.

Now I really wish I understood everything better....what probably ain't that big a deal seems insurmountable.  I'll let you know on Saturday...if that is ok.  

God I hate having to make descisions!!!   :-/

Cool. Sorry to put you in a spot.

When I say it's a "nuke'n'pave" upgrade, I should point out that your album structure, titles, descriptions, owners, ratings/comments, and views can all remain in tact and will be automatically re-used in 6.0. It's just the templates and style sheets that have changed. ("Just" )

Good news for you though, one of the 6.0 features is buttons, so that'll make future upgrades easier at least.

For folks like you where you've done a lot of style and layout customization, it's a bit of work still.

Tell you what Mike,

Go ahead and release 6 tommorow.  I don't want to stand in the way.  I think what I would like to do at this point is stick with 5.7.  The reason for this is that I just did a massive drive for new members the day before Thanksgiving.  I do want to upgrade to 6, however.  The Search feature alone is inspiring.

I understand that you just got done with a boatload of coding, so their is no big rush...but I was wondering if sometime you might be able to nail down the bugs in my copy of 5.7 that are screwing up the title of the album and also the one that causes the thumbnail problem.....that is if it isn't to much trouble.  This way my album will be working perfectly in it's present form and I will have the time to do the upgrade to 6 at my liesure.  I have temporarily patched the thumb problem by limiting uploads to only one at a time....but the title problem I can't do a temp fix on.

Congrats on the new release.  It sounds very impressive!! I will be more than happy to give any input I can after I get it installed.  Sorry I didn't install the beta....but 5.7 was working beautifully untill just a few days ago so I didn't see any reason to change right away.

If you don't have the access information to my server any more let me know if and when you have the time to take a look at things and I will mail it to you.

Ok, 6.0 is out, I understand why you want to hold off... Don't want things falling apart just when you're seeing high usage... I'll see if I can figure out where the bug fixes for your problems are in the 6.0 code, though that'll probably take some time...

Anyway, thanks for the input, and when you're ready to brave 6.0, I'll help out if I can...
