upload probs
« on: November 10, 2002, 06:25:35 »
Hi Mike, the fans of NASCAR driver Ward Burton have requested a photo upload area & I'm installing your app for this.  I've installed it at http://www.wardburton.com/cgi-bin/album.pl.  I'm using flat-file authentication as my message board doesn't interface (WebWiz Forum) w/ the album.  I can't log in or upload; get error message "ERROR: Line 3003

Error uploading photo: Will not upload! Could not validate Userid: *********" when I try to upload.  In logging in, I get no error message - it just goes back to the main album page.

I uploaded the auth_db.txt file in ASCII & set permissions to 666.  I tried resetting the authentication to 0, but still get the message.   Will you please see if you can tell what the heck I've done wrong - I set up an id for you:    mike|testlogin.  Thanks so much for your help, and Ward's fans are excited that they'll be able to share their pix!...Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Can you e-mail or PM me with a valid username/password and your debug code? That'll let me see what's going on, and get you up and running.

Cheers

Hi Lisa,

I was able to log in OK using the info you gave me... Is it still a problem for you?

Mike, I can also log in now and upload successfully.  I'm really not sure what I did to fix it - just kept hacking around.  I still get the same debug message as in my pm to you (6133: Reading configuration information from /home/www/wardburton/Photo_Album//album.cfg...
6217: No local config file found, returning...)
- never could figure out where that second slash came from after Photo_Album, & that path is not even where the album.cfg file is located. hmmmmm. I guess if it's working I should just be blissfully ignorant  ;) !  Anyway, hopefully I won't have any other probs; thanks for being available.  I'll let ya know when I finish integrating the board with the site so you can add it to your list.  And thanks on behalf of Ward's fans...Lisa
p.s. are you active duty Army?  My husband is retired US Navy.

Hi Lisa,

Glad it's working, though I'm sure you're curious as to what happened there...

Don't worry about the extra slash, it's the result of sloppy coding  :-[ but doesn't hurt anything... As for that path being wrong, it's just looking for a "local" config (an optional feature) so don't worry about the "not found" message...

Debug messages are meant mostly for me, so if they seem alarming or confusing, they probably are. ;)

Cheers
