Perl based CMS
« on: June 17, 2003, 08:34:32 »
I am looking to intergrate my site together with both YaBB 1.3.1 and Album.pl. I have looked at options to make it easy to update the site from a web based environment, but it seems other than using php, there are not to many other "free" options.

Does anyone know of any programs that work like Album.pl where you can upload/edit stuff to your site without having to use php. I am in two minds to run the site on the Album.pl and YaBB, but at this stage I can't seem to find any other options.

Thanks in advance

i checked into this quite extensively myself having  4 yabb.pl boards and using  album pl on 2 of them. i was wanting to find a  cms and maintain all the mods that i enjoyed on my pl boards and maintaining all my posts prior to upgrade. i believe(im not that savvy) mike here has a perl CMS written but it is for  one of his boards the ubb classic i think and i didnt know if there was a yabb convert.

What i ended up doing  was  going with php yabbse and  was able to convert my entire 1.31 board to a yabbse 1.54. (i did lose most of the "toys" but not the important ones)i then installed the yabb portal pfabb to create the cms and as it stands now i use album.pl 6.2  with the same member database(this is important) with just the one exception that  the album opens in a new browser. ultimately id like it to open within the  portal

So...  im not sure the reason for not using php, if it is because your host doesnt have it then this post is irrelevant. but if it was to maintain the integrity of your old yabb.pl board and album.pl  i HTH

Many thanks for your help. I am going to look into pfabb. The main reason to stay away from php was the whole yabb conversion. So I will look into that as well.

Many thanks again
